Breaststroker's Knee
Medically known as a medial collateral ligament strain.
DIAGNOSIS - Patellofemoral pain, medial collateral ligament stress syndrome and medial synovitis. (Pain/swelling under the kneecap/along the inside of the knee)
ETIOLOGY - Excessive valgus (pressure from the side of the knee) or rotatory stress and incorrect technique (kick too wide).
TREATMENT/REHAB - Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation (RICE) to eliminate swelling. Stabilisation exercises, postural correction, strengthening and flexibility. Technique of the whip kick should be corrected to eliminate pain. Kick should occur between 37 and 42 degrees to eliminate stress. NOTE - whilst trying to correct the angle of a kick, too small an angle will give less power, experimentation may be best route to take.
LONG TERM INJURIES - Patellofemoral osteoarthritis.

How this will work
Just ask me a question. Simple.
If you have a question for me to do with the problems you experience during swimming I will do my best to post a blog on the subject and a solution to your problem.
All answers will be based on current research published by professionals and I will try to summarise for easy reading.
If I get too many questions I may pick one to talk about at random but hopefully I can get through them all.
Don't forget my email - atbrindley@gmail.com
Thanks
